TurnWord^™ Word Bot makes the AI's thinking visible. Enter any starting word and any target word, tap Solve, and Word Bot plays out the complete solution — every guess it makes, every color result it receives — until it reaches the target or runs out of guesses.

The result is a complete game record: a board showing every step the AI took and the feedback it used to narrow down the answer. You can run it again with a different starting word to compare paths and find a more efficient route to the same target.

The Basic Approach

1. Enter a Start Word: This is the word the AI plays on its first guess — before it receives any feedback. High-coverage openers like PLATE or STARE tend to produce shorter paths.
2. Enter a Target Word: The answer the AI is trying to reach. Use today's puzzle answer, any word you're curious about, or a word you've found tricky in the past.
3. Tap Solve: Word Bot plays the complete path from Start Word to Target Word, applying its neural network at every step to select the best next guess.
4. Review the result and try again: Change the Start Word and tap Solve again to compare path lengths against the same target.

Reading The Result

The result board shows every guess Word Bot made.

Green: Right letter, right position
Yellow: In the word, wrong position
Gray: Not in the word

How The AI Works

Word Bot uses the same neural network that powers TurnWord Word Solver — trained on over 100,000 games. At each step it evaluates every remaining candidate word and selects the move most likely to reach the target in the fewest guesses.

Luck Score

The Luck score (1–100) measures how efficiently Word Bot solved the puzzle from your chosen starting word. It is only shown on successful runs — if Word Bot fails to reach the target within Max Guesses, no score is displayed. The score accounts for both the number of guesses used and how quickly the candidate pool was eliminated at each step.

A higher Luck Score reflects a more efficient path from your start word to the target. Use it to compare how different openers perform against the same target, or to gauge how difficult a particular target word is for the AI.

Max Guesses

Configurable in the Settings ⚙ Menu. Available settings: 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. The default is 6. Controls the maximum number of guesses Word Bot is allowed to make.
If Word Bot cannot reach the target within the limit, the run ends without a solution and no Luck Score is shown. Change the Max Guesses option to a higher number to see if Word Bot can find your target word.

Unknown Words

Both the Start Word and Target Word must be valid words in the TurnWord dictionary. If either word is not recognized, Word Bot will show an "Unknown Word" notice instead of results. Check the spelling and try again.

Reset

Tap Reset to clear both the Start Word and Target Word fields and remove any results, returning Word Bot to its blank starting state ready for a new run.

Tips and Strategy

• Try different starting words against the same target
  The most informative use of Word Bot is comparison. Fix the target and run the same puzzle with PLATE, STARE, STALE, and your own usual opener side by side.
• High-coverage openers like PLATE, STARE, and STALE often produce shorter paths
  These words expose common vowels and high-frequency consonants on the first guess, giving the AI more to work with immediately.
• Use it to review today's puzzle after you've played
  Enter the day's answer as the target and your actual opener as the start word. See if the AI found a shorter path — and what it played differently.
• Study how the AI's guesses shift as it narrows the field
  Early guesses are chosen for information coverage — they may not look like obvious answers. As the board fills in, the AI's picks shift toward genuine candidates. That transition reveals the AI's strategy.
• Use the Luck Score to gauge opener quality over many runs
  Run the same opener against a variety of targets and track the average Luck Score. Over enough runs, a pattern emerges — the best openers maintain consistently higher scores across diverse targets.
