Word Solver

TurnWord Word Solver is the TurnWord AI assistant for any five-letter word guessing puzzle — it turns your constraints into the top-ranked suggestion, so every guess moves you closer to the answer. Run it alongside your puzzle game: mirror each guess and its color feedback here, and Word Solver is ready with the best next word whenever you want one. Use the suggestions when you need them, or play your own choice and let Word Solver keep tracking. Word Solver never knows your puzzle's target word — everything it knows comes from the feedback you enter.

The Basic Workflow

You run Word Solver in parallel alongside your puzzle game:
  1. Make a guess in your puzzle game.
  2. Enter that same word in Word Solver. Word Solver pre-fills likely tile feedback — review and correct any tiles that don't match what your puzzle returned.
  3. Submit the guess. Word Solver validates the entry and updates its analysis.
  4. Tap AI Suggestions 💡 to reveal the next AI-ranked suggestion. Each tap reveals one more, up to 5. Use one when you need it, or play your own choice.
  5. Repeat until the puzzle is solved.
Before your first guess: tap AI Suggestions 💡 to see Word Solver's top 5 recommended opening words — ready before you enter anything.

Setting the Feedback

C
Green Correct: Right letter, right position. Keep it there.
P
Yellow Present: Right letter, wrong position. Move it next guess.
A
Gray — Absent: Letter not in word.
Set all five tiles accurately before submitting. A single incorrect tile can send the suggestion list in the wrong direction for the rest of the session. Use Undo to correct any errors.

AI Suggestions

Tap AI Suggestions 💡 after submitting a guess to reveal suggestions one at a time — each tap shows the next ranked word, up to 5 per guess. Each Suggestion includes a Definition , so you can make an informed choice even when a word looks unfamiliar. Suggestions are ranked by cumulative AI score, combining three components:

Component 1 — Neural Network

Trained on 100,000+ games. Evaluates the strategic value of each candidate.

Component 2 — Word Frequency

How commonly the word appears in puzzles — likely answers surface first.

Component 3 — Letter Patterns

N-gram analysis of letter sequences informed by game context.

How scoring shifts over time: Early in a session the top suggestion is optimized for information gain — it may not look like the answer. As the candidate pool narrows it shifts toward genuine answer candidates.

Max Guesses

Configurable from 4 to 10 in the Settings Menu, with a default of 6. Changing this option restarts the app.

Guess Rules

Matches Word Solver's rules to how strictly your puzzle game enforces its guesses. Set in the Settings Menu. The default is Easy. Changing this option restarts the app.
ModeGreen positionYellow presentYellow position forbiddenGray forbidden
Easy (0) (default)NoNoNoNo
Hard (1)YesYesNoNo
Expert (2)YesYesNoYes
Optimal (3)YesYesYesYes

Optimal also caps each letter's count at the number the answer is known to contain (not shown as a column).

  • Easy — No rules enforced. Any valid word accepted.
  • Hard — Green letters must stay in position. Yellow letters must be used again somewhere in the next word.
  • Expert — Everything in Hard, plus gray letters can't be used again.
  • Optimal — Everything in Expert, plus a yellow letter can't return to its old spot and letter counts are capped. Same rules the AI plays by.
Note: Guess Rules govern which guesses Word Solver accepts from you. The AI always generates suggestions using full Optimal constraints regardless of which mode you are in.

Undo

Undo steps back through your guess history one entry at a time. Use it to correct a feedback entry or explore what the suggestion list would look like if you had played a different word. You can step back all the way to the beginning to restart from scratch.

New Game

New Game resets the session entirely, returning Word Solver to its full starting state ready for a new puzzle session.

Definition

Every suggestion includes a Definition , so you can make an informed choice even when a word looks unfamiliar. You can also see a definition for accepted guess by tapping on the row, and then on the Definition icon that appears.

Keyboard and Input

You may type using a physical keyboard or the on-screen keyboard. Enter submits a guess; Backspace removes the last letter entered.

Tips

  • Use a strong opener. Tap AI Suggestions 💡 before your first guess — PLATE, STARE, STALE, SLATE, and CLASP are chosen for maximum information on the first guess.
  • Always verify pre-filled feedback tiles before submitting. Word Solver infers what it can, but your puzzle's actual output is the ground truth. Any mismatch corrupts the suggestion list.
  • Set Guess Rules to match how freely you have been playing. AI suggestion quality is identical across all levels — Guess Rules only control which guesses Word Solver accepts from you.
  • Use suggestions as guidance, not instruction. Understanding why a word ranks where it does is more valuable than following the list blindly.
  • Pay attention to how the ranking shifts over time. Early suggestions are optimized for information gain. As the candidate pool narrows they shift toward genuine answer candidates.
  • Use Undo deliberately, not just to fix mistakes. Submit a guess, observe how the suggestion list changes, then undo and try a different word.
  • If suggestions start to look wrong, check your feedback history. A single incorrect tile can send the list in the wrong direction. Use Undo to step back and correct it.
