TurnWord™ Quick Finder is the fastest way to search five-letter words by what you know.
Tap letters to mark them in or out — no positions needed — and the results rank instantly, strongest candidates first.
Use it during any word guessing game when you know which letters are present or eliminated but aren't ready to pin them to specific positions.
The on-screen keyboard is your input. Each letter cycles through three states with each tap:
Marking Letters
S
Blue — Somewhere in word: Tap once
X
Gray — Not in the word: Tap twice
A
Neutral: Tap again to clear
Results update immediately with every tap — there is no submit button.
You can combine any number of blue and gray letters in any combination.
Results
Matching words are displayed in a ranked list, strongest candidates first, up to a maximum of 25 results. Each result row shows:- A rank number
- The word, with any letters you marked blue highlighted in blue
- A short Definition
Definition
Each result includes a Definition. This is particularly useful when a high-ranked word looks unfamiliar — you can verify it is a real and valid word before deciding whether to play it. Tap on longer definitions (marked with a >) to see the complete definition.Pagination
Results are displayed a page at a time within the 25-result limit. When there are more results than fit on one page, use the < Previous and Next > controls at the bottom of the list to move between pages.Reset
Tap Reset to reset all letter selections at once and return Quick Finder to its starting state, ready for a new search.Keyboard
If you are using Quick Finder on a device with a physical keyboard, you can type letters directly. Each keystroke cycles the corresponding letter through its states and triggers an immediate search — the same as tapping the on-screen key.Advanced Finder
When you know where letters go — or don't — switch to TurnWord Advanced Finder. Advanced Finder lets you set constraints per position — specifying which letters are correct (green), present but in the wrong spot (yellow), or absent (gray) at each of the five positions. It's the more precise tool when you have positional information.Tips and Strategy
- Start with just the letters you're most confident about. Adding too many constraints at once can over-filter the results.
- Use blue marks for green and yellow tiles from your puzzle — both confirm the letter is somewhere in the word, regardless of position.
- Use gray marks for every letter your puzzle has confirmed is absent. The more you rule out, the tighter and more useful the results become.
- Read the Definition. A word you don't recognize may be exactly the kind of uncommon word a puzzle is looking for.
- If you know where any letter goes — or doesn't go — switch to TurnWord Advanced Finder. Position-based filtering can dramatically narrow results that Quick Finder can't.
- Tap Reset between games to make sure no old constraints carry over into your next search.

You know some letters in the word you are looking for?
Tap them blue. Ruled some out? Tap them gray. TurnWord™ Quick Finder searches thousands of words instantly and returns up to 25 of the strongest matches — no positions needed.
That's why we call it Quick Finder.
But when letter positions are important in your search, switch to TurnWord Advanced Finder.
Most word tools ask you where letters go. Quick Finder doesn't.
Tap the letters you know are in the word, tap the ones you've ruled out, and the strongest matches are ranked for you.
The strongest candidates surface first.
